Lady Gaga's father says he was 'attacked' outside NYC church as he slams ongoing Big Apple crime

Lady Gaga's restauranteur father slammed 'chaos' taking over the Big Apple as he revealed he was attacked outside his church.

Joe Germanotta, an outspoken critic of New York politicians and their Covid-19 economic policies, said the city has been spiraling into lawlessness in recent years.

'I just got attacked outside my church, I was attacked,' he told Fox Business in a wide-ranging interview.

'It was 7:30 in the morning, and I don't know whether he's homeless, he was a little disturbed... First, he pushed the pastor of the church. We were standing out in front, and then he came down the stairs coming after me.'

Germanotta brought up the random assault as he raised the alarm over declining safety in New York City, amid furious anti-Israel protests taking over the city's Columbia and New York University campuses.

The superstar's father has become a frequent commentator on issues around New York City in recent years, as he told Fox this week that he lays much of the blame on President Biden's administration.

A fixture of the Upper West Side neighborhood and owner of the area's Italian restaurant Joanne Trattoria, he previously spoke out after his neighboring hotel was transformed into a migrant shelter last summer.

In his interview this week, Germanotta said he sees the city as becoming increasingly 'unsafe.'

'What's been so unsafe is a lot of people running around, just hanging out on corners, loitering,' he said.

He explained: 'There's probably enough scooters and bicycles on the sidewalk to expand your delivery zone to Connecticut.

'They're everywhere, and they're buzzing around. You have to look both ways when you're walking down the street, because most of the time they're riding in both directions.

'The city's become unsafe in a couple of different ways, not just crime. Now there's chaos.'

Germanotta said he has seen up to a third less business in recent years, which he blamed on not only lawlessness, but escalating inflation.

'I can tell you this, where we're getting hurt most is the economy,' he said.

'And it's been a steady decline since this new administration and the mayor and the crime and the newcomers. And just every time you turn around, there’s a 'gotcha' there.'

Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, appears to have more liberal politics than her father - but generally keeps her views private.
